What do I need to get a library card?

You will need to verify your current address in Garland or Saline County, provide an ID number and provide an alternate contact. Learn more about getting a Garland County Library card.

Can my child get a library card?

Children 3 and older can get a library card with a parent or legal guardian.

What can I do with my library card?

Your library card is your gateway to many of our services, including booksonline news, and online databases.

Why does my card expire?

Library cards expire once every three years as an opportunity to update account information such as a new address or contact number. An expired account will not have access to library resources until the information is updated.

How many items can I check out?

You may have 40 physical items checked out at one time with certain limits to specific formats. Learn more about our circulation periods and limits.

Can I renew my items? How?

Items will automatically renew for two additional checkout periods if the item is not requested by another patron.

How do I place an item on hold?

Holds can be placed in person, by phone, through your online account, or through the Library's mobile app.

What if the library doesn't have an item I want?

You may request items with the Request a Title form. Garland County residents may use this form to request titles for library purchase or Interlibrary Loan.

How long can I keep my items?

Most items may be checked out for three weeks. Certain media may be checked out for one week.

Does the library charge overdue fines?

We are a fine-free library, but we will still charge for lost or damaged items.

What is my PIN?

Your four-digit PIN, or Patron Identification Number, is used to access your library account online, as well as some library services. If forgotten, a staff member can reset it for you.

Does the library provide Internet access?

Yes, the library has several public internet terminals and wi-fi available for visitors and patrons. Daily use is limited and computers shut down 15 minutes before closing.

Is printing available from public computers?

Printing is available in black & white for 5 cents per page, or color for 25 cents per page. Volume may be limited to smaller quantities. Information on local commercial printers can be provided.

Are copiers available for public use?

Yes, both color and black & white copiers are available. Same as printing, pages are available for 5 cents per page in black & white, or 25 cents per page for color.

Does the library have a notary on staff?

No, the Garland County Library does not provide notary services.
