The Garland County Library invites families, children, and community members of all ages to enjoy the beauty of summer and the joy of reading during the Summer Garden Book Walk, beginning June 1st in the GCL Community Garden & Park, located beside the Garland County Library.
This self-guided outdoor reading experience features pages from Dinosaurs in Space by Todd Sturgell displayed along the garden path, allowing visitors to stroll through the community garden while reading the story one page at a time. Surrounded by blooming plants, fresh air, and peaceful scenery, the Summer Garden Book Walk offers a fun and relaxing way for families to enjoy literacy and the outdoors together.
In this imaginative and humorous story, a group of dinosaurs blasts off on an out-of-this-world adventure filled with fun, surprises, and plenty of cosmic excitement, making it a perfect summertime read for young explorers and the theme perfectly coincides with this year's Summer Reading Program theme.
“The Garden Book Walk is a wonderful opportunity for families to slow down, spend time outside, and experience a story in a unique and memorable way,” said Brook Fischer, Youth Services Librarian and curator of the Summer Garden Book Walk. “Summer is the perfect season to combine reading, nature, and family time.”
The Summer Garden Book Walk will be available during regular daylight hours from June 1st - July 31st in the GCL Community Garden & Park, located beside the library. The event is free, family-friendly, and open to the public.
