The Garland County Library is excited to announce a major milestone in expanding library services across the county. Construction officially began on June 22, 2026, for GCL's new North Branch, marking the first step toward bringing library resources and programs closer to residents in northern Garland County.
Harrison Construction has been awarded the construction contract and is expected to complete the approximately 10,000-square-foot facility within the next 12 months.
The new branch will be located on Highway 7 North, adjacent to the McAuley Center just outside the gates of Hot Springs Village. Designed to serve the growing communities in northern Garland County, the facility will provide convenient access to library materials, technology, educational programming, and gathering spaces.
For Executive Director Adam Webb, the groundbreaking represents the realization of a vision that has been years in the making.
"This has been a long time coming," Webb said. "It has been a priority of mine ever since I've been the director, but it's been a dream since way before then… So it is our honor and privilege to be doing this."
The North Branch is a cornerstone of the Garland County Library's GCL Forward initiative, an ambitious plan to expand the library system to three branches over the next five years. By increasing access to library services throughout the county, the initiative aims to better serve the area's growing population while creating welcoming spaces for learning, creativity, and community engagement.
When completed, the North Branch will feature dedicated areas for children and teens, offering programming spaces designed to encourage lifelong learning. The building will also include study rooms, meeting spaces for community organizations, and flexible areas that can accommodate a variety of educational, cultural, and civic events.
As construction progresses, the Garland County Library will share updates, photos, and milestones with the community.
